About Bill Owl 🦉

The "Lazy Tax" has a new enemy.

In Australia, we're taught that loyalty is a virtue. But when it comes to your bills, loyalty often comes with a cost. Telcos and energy companies rely on us being too busy to check the fine print, quietly creeping up prices while offering better deals to new customers.

We call this the "Lazy Tax." And we think it's rubbish.

Bill Owl was created by a small team of Aussies who were fed up with "comparison" sites that felt more like sales offices. We didn't want pages of sponsored "Top Picks" or rankings driven by commissions.

We wanted a straight answer.

Our No-BS Philosophy

Most comparison sites make money by pushing you toward whoever pays them the most. That pressure shows up in how plans are ranked, framed, and promoted.

Bill Owl takes a different approach:

  • Independence First: Our verdicts and rankings are based on value, price, and speed — not on who pays us.
  • No Hidden Agendas: We don't have "Premium Partners" that get special treatment.
  • Plain English: No jargon, no sales spin. Just clear language about whether your deal stacks up — and whether it's worth doing anything about it.

Sometimes the best answer is: "You're fine. Do nothing."
We consider that a feature, not a failure.

How We Keep the Lights On (Transparency Matters)

If we're asking you to trust us with your bills, it's only fair we're honest about ours.

Yes, we make money.
When you choose to switch providers through certain links, we may receive a referral fee. This never increases the price you pay.

Crucially: Our comparison logic does not factor in commission size when ranking or recommending plans. We'd rather lose a referral than push you toward a worse deal.

Trust lasts longer than commissions.

Meet the Owl

We're not a massive call centre or a faceless corporate.
We're a lean team of developers and consumer advocates based in Australia.

We're building the tool we wanted for ourselves — a simple, honest way to check whether the "Big Guys" are quietly dipping into our pockets.
